Today, children and school staff around the country are taking part in a range of fun activities to raise money for Children in Need. The charity works to ensure that every child in the UK has a safe, happy, and secure childhood. They use the donations to fund their work and provide grants to organisations for projects that help disadvantaged children and young people all over the country.

Since hitting the airwaves of the BBC in 1980, Children in Need has helped raise over £950 million to help disadvantaged young people in the UK. Schools play a huge part in helping to raise money and supporting the event.

To celebrate Children in Need this year, our school council has organised a red, yellow and spotty non-school uniform day and we will be doing a sponsored Big Morning Move. We are hoping to raise £100 this year!

At St George's Church of England Primary School, we view Children in Need as a great platform to teach our students how to be charitable and kind, and about the importance of helping others. Learning the significance of these values will help to develop lasting habits that will be practised in adult life.
